OK Venice was hellish so we debated whether it was really worth the journey to Rome if there was even half a chance it would be a similar experience. We really didn't want to travel for a day to spend 2 hours in Rome.
Eventually we decided it had to be done though, we packed up and headed south. The temperature gauge hit 41 degrees so we were glad of the Air Con, but it was still a very long journey, thank goodness for Harry Potter and the Lego book to keep the kids entertained!
Finally though we made it to the outskirts of Rome and Lago Bracciano, it was well past 10pm so the only option was wild camping. Thankfully we found a spot, next to the lake & pulled in for the night.
